Film, theatre, radio work...

Daniel Heïkalo is a unique composer and sound designer, with a versatility and flexibility that is perfectly suited for theatre, film, dance, and radio productions.  His work has been used in nineteen plays, six films, several scores for dance productions, and Radio-Canada and CBC programs.

His impeccable qualifications as a technician, and his ability to "get the right sound" has meant that Nova Scotia's Atlantic Theatre Festival in Wolfville has used Heikalo's talents for five of its seasons;   he has composed, arranged, recorded, mixed and created custom sound effects and sound design for over 15 of their plays.  For three seasons, he complemented the task by running the sound during the shows, making sure that every bit of recorded music or sound effect was played at the right moment, from the right speaker and at the right level and equalization.

Heïkalo's skills also include arranging music for any instrument, as well as for voice.  As one of the finest multi-instrumentalists in the country, and well-versed in a wide variety of styles, Heïkalo knows quality and he knows music.  His standards are high both in terms of achieving excellence of sound, and the desired quality of mood and atmosphere.  In short, he has a truly professional flair for music.
